Filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) has never been easier than it is for the 2017-18 academic year, and there is extra incentive for students to fill out the form by March 1.

Lakeland’s financial aid office is asking all current non-seniors to fill out their 2017-18 FAFSAs by that date. Laura Lange, Lakeland’s assistant director of financial aid, said the FAFSA process is easier than ever because students don’t need 2016 tax information. The same information will be used as for the 2016-17 FAFSA.

Students who fill out their FAFSAs before March 1 are much more likely to receive their financial aid letters for the 2017-18 academic year before they go home for summer break.

In addition, those students will be eligible for one of five prizes:

  • A $100 Visa gift card
  • One of four $50 Visa gift cards

In addition, if 85 percent of non-seniors fill out their FAFSAs by March 1, LU’s Student Success and Engagement Team will throw an ice cream party on Tuesday, March 21, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Campus Center lobby. The winners of the Visa gift cards will be drawn and announced at that time.

Lange stressed that LU’s financial aid office is here to help! Simply email or call 920-565-1032.
